Rotary International was founded in 1905 in Chicago and it has grown into a worldwide organisation with over 1.4 million members in 200 countries.
Over the years Rotary International has provided humanitarian aid for crisis-stricken countries, given $356 million for 32,000 scholarship grants, provided $76 million for humanitarian projects, and has spear-headed the Polio Plus programme by raising over $500 million to eradicate Polio.

Blyth Valley Rotary (previously known as Southwold and District) is part of Rotary International and was formed in 1960 and currently has 34 members from all professions and walks of life. We cover towns and villages in the Blyth Valley including Halesworth, Wrentham, Wangford, Reydon, Walberswick, Blythburgh, and of course Southwold. In July 2023 we changed our name to Blyth Valley Rotary to better reflect the area covered by our club.

In 2005 for the 100th anniversary of the founding of Rotary International, the club sponsored a commemorative clock for the new Millennium Hall in Southwold. Another commemorative clock was purchased for Reydon Village Hall to celebrate the club’s 50th Anniversary year.

We organise the annual Brass on the Grass event on Jubilee Green in Reydon, we assist with the running of Henham Steam rally, and we organise the annual Christmas day swim at Southwold.

Our current President for 2024/2025 is Colin Coe.

We usually meet every Thursday at the Sole Bay Bowls Club at 6:30 pm. Please use the Contact Us form to find the latest meeting.

The following list is the donations made in the 12 months to 1st July 2023:

Like any organisation we can do nothing without our members. The more members we have the more we can do. If Rotary and what we do is something you might be interested in then please get in touch using the contact details on this website. We look forward to hearing from you.
